Climatronic/air con
« on: March 09, 2015, 02:23:29 pm »
Right have done a fair bit of noseying around and have not found a positive answer too my question although plenty of info as too which of many things it may be.
So went out Friday night, wet and cold night and put on the climatronic and there is no blow from it, it will heat up and all the orange buttons are lighting up bar the recirculating one top left corner. Car is booked in at end of week to VW although hoping this may be as simple as air con regas and at worse condensor. It is not making any funny noisey the cabin so hoping it is a cheap fix.Anyone know the symptoms of the gas low in the system, thanks in advance.

when you say there is no blow, do you mean the A/C is not blowing cold or there is no air at all blowing from the vents?

If it's the former, then it's probably just your A/C that needs regassing.. but if it's the latter, the blower motor could be buggered or a fuse has gone

Thanks for the response John87, when I turn the blower knob to get a stronger blow it is not increasing the force of blow and can only feel a trickle of air from any of the vents. Will take a look at the fuse, from reading it is a 40 amp fuse in position 22. Really hoping this is an easy fix. So from that do you think it may just be the air-con refill?

If there is very little air coming from the vents and you can't hear the blower motor running, then it definitely sounds like the blower motor or it's fuse.

If your air con was needing re-gassed, the compressor would not run and as a result you would not receive any chilled air. The blower would still run though..

Well it is'nt the fuse...changed that. So will wait now and see what the system throws up and hope it's just a gas fill up.
On listening to the air-con on and pressing all the positioning buttons I can hear them engaging and doing their thing all be it with out any force of air. Will report back when I find out more, thanks for your help so far :happy2:

Just a thought - is your cabin filter blocked? This will prevent air getting through. Easy to check.

Cabin filter was only changed 200 miles ago, but must just check it is seated correctly. Would'nt it be great if it was something as simple, was out for a spin yhere and its heating up all right but starting then too mist up due to drop in temperature.

Big thanks too all that gave input, turned out it was a seized motor. All sorted now and back on track with the mods, on a side note got my H&R springs and Evom's fitted tonight as well so all in all  a good night's work.
